Purpose
Independently perform in-field equipment diagnostics and repairs by operating a mobile service vehicle and traveling to customer locations. Candidates require a strong work ethic to complete a task efficiently with minimal supervision. Individual will serve as an in-field representative for the dealership to provide service solutions. Responsibilities include managing a mobile service schedule to meet customer expectations, while meeting field revenue expectations. Must maintain a mobile parts stock, including tracking and billing coordination. Communication skills required to clearly articulate aspects of work being performed to a customer in a courteous and effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology predominately at customer locations
- Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information.
- Accountable for billable time and parts on assigned work orders
- Collaborate daily with Service Manager to ensure dealership and customer priorities are aligned
- Actively identify, market and communicate solutions for customer service opportunities in area of responsibility
- Proactively forecast and maintain accurate inventory of parts kept in stock on service vehicle
- Establish, maintain and grow a service-oriented relationship with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
- Mentors and assists Service Technician and Apprentice Technicians in and out of the shop.
- Must maintain Advanced Service Technical Certification, including continuing education training.
- Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
- Maintains operational knowledge of John Deere and competitive products including precision technologies
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignment
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge
- 5+ years of experience performing service repairs; Advanced Service Technician certificate; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred
- Experience performing repairs and maintenance in the Field using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on machines of the Technician’s specialty
- Experience with the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment
- Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes
- Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred Experience working cooperatively in a team environment
- Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing
- Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associate degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license and health card required; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred
